The Hellenic Land Cadastre, Greece’s land registry agency, is the first Greek state service to use Artificial Intellegince (AI).
The application will check legal documents and contracts in natural language, recognize the type of property deed and automatically apply the legal rules applicable to the deed it detects, drastically reducing processing times. AI will also be able to identify whether an ENFIA (property tax) declaration, or updates are present. As Kathimerini reported, AI will lower the cost of legal control per contract, from the 15 euros that the state presently spends for each recommendation to just 0.30 euros.
Furthermore, the Land Cadastre is actively digitizing its archives and lawyers investigating property deeds on behalf of their clients in Athens, Thessaloniki, Piraeus, and another 30 locations can conduct their search from their computer, eliminating the need for physical visits to deed offices
More than 50 million pages had been digitized and that for some months now, 90% of the traffic relating to acts submitted in Athens and Thessaloniki is conducted digitally, Tornos News reported.
The digital services aim at faster transaction processing through AI analysis, increased efficiency, reduced costs and time saved for both citizens and lawyers, improved transparency and potential reduction in bribery.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
