ECONOMY

-Greece on Wednesday (Jan. 4) successfully auctioned a three-month Treasury bills issue at a slightly lower cost. The interest rate of the issue was set at 3.84%, down from 3.88% of the previous auction in November, AMNA reported.

-Deposits placed by the private sector decreased by 904 million euros in November 2023, after a decrease of 2,143 million in the previous month, with the annual growth rate stood at 2.4% compared with 2.5% in the previous month, the Bank of Greece said.

TOURISM

-Passenger traffic at the Athens International Airport set a new all-time record in 2023, totaling 28,174,150 passengers, breaking the 28 million passengers barrier for the first time and leaving behind the previous record of 25.57 million of 2019.

-Towards the end of 2024, the digital work card will find application within the realms of tourism and hospitality, according to the Ministry of Labor.

-A labor market report by Randstad Hellas on tourism and hotel salaries in 2023 showed that they increased 46% from 2022.
