ECONOMY

-The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Greece eased to 10% in September 2023, following a downwardly revised 10.6% rate in August and reaching the lowest level since August 2009, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) data showed.

-Greece’s business environment for startups is world’s 37th friendliest according to the ranking of StartupBlink “Top 100 Countries for Startup-Business Friendliness 2023”.

-Another five multinational groups whose consumer goods are sold in the Greek market are under scrutiny by the Interagency for Market Control (DIMEA), in order to determine whether they have violated laws against unfair profits, according to the Development and Investments Ministry.

-Visitors from Germany and the United Kingdom accounted for almost half (44%) of all tourist spending and overnight stays in Greece in 2022, research by the Institute of the Greek Tourism Confederation (INSETE) reveals.
