ECONOMY

-Greece’s four major banks (Alpha Bank, Eurobank, National Bank of Greece and Piraeus Bank) reported total net profits of €2.3 billion in the first half of 2024, up 25% year-on-year, international ratings agency DBRS has noted.

-The average pension in Greece is €816.95, Kathimerini reported citing state data, which also show a great disparity between private sector (average: €749.11) and public sector pensions (average: €1,224.45).

-The mandatory public offer by Eurobank S.A. to acquire up to 100% of the shares in Hellenic Bank Public Company Limited has been completed.

-Swiss-based UBS investment bank has increased the target price for Alpha Bank and National Bank of Greece (NBG), maintaining a buy recommendation for both systemic banks.

-The average price of a hotel room in Athens topped €200 in June, 17.7% up from June 2023 and 33% higher than June 2022.

-Fraport Greece, the company responsible for maintaining, operating, managing, upgrading and developing 14 regional airports in Greece will now advance to the third phase of runway reconstruction at nine regional airports across the country: Zakynthos (ZTH), Kavala (KVA), Kefallonia (EFL), Corfu (CFU), Mykonos (JMK), Santorini (JTR), Samos (SMI), Rhodes (RHO), and Mitiline (MJT).
