ECONOMY

Greece’s trade deficit decreased by 16.8% during the eight months January-August 2023. The total value of exports in the period January-August decreased by 5.7%, according to Hellenic Statistical Authority-ELSTAT data.

POLITICS

Local elections are scheduled to be held in Greece on Sunday (Oct. 8) and, where a second round is required, on October 15, 2023. Voters will elect representatives to the country’s local authorities, comprising 13 regions and 332 municipalities.

LABOUR

Greece recorded a significant increase in occupational accidents to 4,498 in 2021 compared to 3,997 in 2020, up 12.1%, Eurostat data showed.

-Athens International Airport saw passenger figures rise 16.3 % in September. Passengers totaled 3,006,870 last month, up 16.3% on an annual basis.
