-Super market turnover in Greece stood at 11.8 billion euros in 2023, up 10% on an annual basis, according to the research firm Circana. The most circulated goods, such detergents, cleaning materials and paper, increased in value by 9.5%.
-The broader region of Athens accounted for 47.9% of the domestic Gross Value Added in 2021 while the islands of the Northern Aegean accounted for 1.3%, according to the latest ELSTAT data.

The European Parliament raised on Wednesday the alarm over several worrying developments in Greece threatening the rule of law, citing a hostile environment for journalists, the use of spyware against political opponents and journalists and abuse of power by the police, and called on the Commission to act.
