ECONOMY

-One in two Greek consumers declares they will not take a vacation this year, amid high prices of services and holiday packages, a survey by the Research Institute for Retail Consumer Goods (IELKA) revealed. According to ELSTAT, compared to last June increases of 19.7% have been recorded for plane tickets, while hotels appear to be 12% more expensive. As far as holiday packages are concerned, prices are 12.7% higher than last year.

-The Overall Industrial Production Index in May 2024 recorded an increase of 6.7% compared with May 2023. The Overall IPI in May 2023 increased by 2.3% compared with the corresponding index in May 2022, ELSTAT data showed.

REAL ESTATE

-Sani Development and Tourism Company SA, the highest bidder for the development of the property “Sani-“Kassandra” in the Halkidiki peninsula, signed the agreement for the development of the area assessed at 8.6 million euros, the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) said.

-The significant increase in supply compared to last year seems to have affected the net income of short-term rental accommodation in Athens and Thessaloniki, Kathimerini reported citing research carried out by Key Data on behalf of the Association of Short-Term Rental Companies (STAMA) for the Greek market this summer. -The Urban Transport Organization of Thessaloniki (OASTh) Union of Workers announced a 24-hour strike set to take place on Wednesday (July 10).

-Taxis in the Athens area have announced a 24-hour strike starting at 6:00 on Thursday (July 11) morning and ending at 6:00 on the following day (July 12).
