ECONOMY
-The Overall Industrial Production Index in November 2023 recorded an increase of 3.1% compared with November 2022, according to data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
-Greek households saw a dramatic 22.5% drop in their wealth in comparison to the pre-crisis levels in 2009 in the Eurozone, in contrast to the other members of the economic bloc who experienced a 50% rise in wealth value, as per the European Central Bank’s (ECB) experimental data.
REAL ESTATE
In 2023, the number of Greek property owners opting for short-term rentals rose to 150,000 from 125,000 in 2022. During the period under review, income from Airbnb-type rentals stood at €677 million up 33%, according to the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE).
TOURISM
In November 2023, Greece witnessed the second largest loss of jobs recorded in the last 22 years, data from the Labor Ministry’s ‘Ergani’ database showed. With the end of the 2023 tourism season a loss of 82,463 jobs was recorded in November, of which 56,659 came from hotels and accommodation.
