ECONOMY

-The Greek state will auction off 26-Week T-Bills on Wednesday (July 24) in book entry form, with the aim raise 500 million euros, Greece’s Public Debt Management Agency (PDMA) announced. The notes will mature on Jan. 24, 2025. A settlement date is July 26, 2024.

-The Hellenic Competition Commission announced inquiry into Greek bank’s deposit interest rates “with a view to identifying possible distortions and to submitting proposals to promote competition in the market, to the benefit of depositors (households and businesses).”

-Full-meal restaurants (restaurants, steakhouses, fish taverns, taverns, ouzo bars, beer bars, snack bars, traditional coffee shops, and pizzerias) will be obliged to use a Fiscal Electronic Mechanism (FIMAS) or restaurant cash register or fiscal printers (ADIME) to issue receipts as of August 1.

Meanwhile, the number of empty lots across Greece – properties without buildings – not declared to the national property registry is about 3.3 million, or 22% of the total. The Castle of Ioannina, the fortified old town of Ioannina in Epirus, northwestern Greece, will be upgraded to a Culture Park. The 1.2 million euros project involves accessibility improvements and will be funded by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility.
