ECONOMY

-Moody’s raised Greece’s credit rating outlook to “Positive” from “Stable” but did not lift the country out of junk status and into investment grade.

-JP Morgan reaffirmed its “neutral” recommendation on Greek stocks and noted that upward factors are running low, while the valuation of Greek banks has all but closed the European average discount.

-The Overall Import Price Index (MPI) in Industry in July 2024 recorded a decrease of 1.6% compared
with July 2023. The corresponding index in July 2023 had recorded a decrease of 14.4% compared with July 2022, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) data showed.

-For the enterprises of the economy as a whole, obliged to double-entry accounting bookkeeping, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in July 2024 amounted to 37,948,437 thousand euro, recording an increase of 12.7% in comparison with July 2023, when the respective turnover was 33,673,313 thousand euro, ELSTAT said.

-The Production Index in Construction (IPC) in the 2nd quarter 2024 recorded an increase of 12.0% compared with the 2nd quarter 2023. The IPC in 2nd quarter 2023 increased by 11.5% compared with the corresponding index in the 2nd quarter 2022, ELSTAT announced.

CULTURE

Culture Minister Lina Mendoni inaugurated the Nafpaktos Castle Museum. The museum is fully accessible to individuals with disabilities, offers informational material in Braille for visitors with visual impairments and features a multipurpose room with digital applications and educational programs, AMNA reported.

TOURISM

-Athens ranked 2nd among international gastronomy destinations for food enthusiasts, according to a survey conducted by Japan Rail Pass (JRP). The Greek capital earned an overall score of 83.86 out of 100.

-International passenger traffic at the 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece increased by 6.2% in the first eight months of this year, reaching 20,397,126 passengers compared to 19,202,479 in the same period in 2023. Rhodes accounted for 20% of the total international air traffic among the 14 airports.

-The total passenger traffic in Greek ports in the 1st quarter 2024 recorded an increase of 11.4%
compared with the 1 st quarter 2023, ELSTAT said. The total movements of goods in Greek ports
decreased by 0.1% during the period under review.
