ECONOMY
-Greece ranks last in the economic freedom chart among the European Union member-states, a study published by the Center for Liberal Studies (KEFiM) in collaboration with the Canadian Fraser Institute, reveals.
-The euro area annual inflation rate was 1.7% in September 2024, while in Greece was 3.1%, Eurostat data showed on Friday.
-The Greek economy increased by 2.3% in 2023, up from the initial estimate of 2% released in March, the Greek statistical authority, ELSTAT said.
BUSINESS
For the enterprises in Accommodation Activities, obliged to double-entry bookkeeping, for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in August 2024 amounted to 1,990,448,438 euro, recording an increase of 10.9% in comparison with August 2023, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said. For the enterprises in Food and Beverage Service Activities the turnover in August 2024 amounted to 345,373,083 euro, recording an increase of 9.6% in comparison with August 2023.

During June 2024 compared with the corresponding month of 2023, museums recorded an 11.2% increase in the number of visitors, a 6.5% decrease in the number of free admission visitors and a 20.6% increase in their receipts, ELSTAT data showed. As regards archaeological sites, in June 2024 compared with the corresponding month of 2023, a decrease of 8.5% was recorded in the number of visitors, of 8.2% in the number of free admission visitors and of 6.8% in the corresponding receipts.
